Distance learning, for the purposes of this website, may be defined simply as education delivered via the Internet.
The most common method of delivery for distance learning courses is through a course management system or learning management system such as Blackboard or Angel. These easy-to-use systems provide interactive tools such as discussion boards and assignment drop-boxes, serving as online classroom environments.
Almost all public and private institutions of higher learning offer distance learning courses of some type. In fact, many schools offer entire degree programs online, both at the undergraduate and graduate level.

If you have a computer, know how to use it, and desire to better yourself through higher education, then distance learning may be for you. You must be aware, however, that distance learning courses require a great degree of focus, time, and energy. Self-discipline is key to success. So as long as you’re willing to rise to the challenge, taking a distance learning course or enrolling in an online degree program should prove a worthwhile investment.
